You and your children will always receive a warm, friendly welcome at All Hallows' Church which is situated about 8 miles north of York on the road to Helmsley and is open every day during daylight hours. Please drop in when you are passing or better still come to one of our services.
Our parish has c2000 inhabitants in the villages of Sutton and its neighbour Huby. The church, which dates from the 12th century but much modified and enlarged by the Victorians and where Lawrence Sterne of Tristram Shandy fame was once the vicar, boasts several panels of medieval glazing and a collection of striking monuments to the Harland family, former residents of Sutton Park opposite the church.
We form with 4 other churches the Benefice of the Forest of Galtres, named after a former hunting ground of Henry the Eigthth. With the aid of our lay reader Harold Mytum, our priest in charge, Rev'd Steve Whiting, is nevertheless able to ensure that we have at least one service every Sunday. Do not hesitate to contact him on 01347 810251 or email [email protected] should you wish more information on our activities.
The thriving Mothers' Union meets on the second Wednesday of every month and Messy Church takes place on the 4th Sunday in every month in Huby Village Hall. Children are very important to us at All Hallows' so do not be nervous about bringing them with you to a service. We have a well-equipped kiddies' corner.
We very much look forward to seeing at the church in the future.
